Chemex Brew Tips:

• Bring your water to between 200-205F.
• Grind your coffee coarse (it should look like rock salt).
• Water-to-coffee ratio for a Chemex, by weight: 12:1.
• Water-to-coffee ratio for a Chemex, by volume: 6 oz.: 2.5 tbs.

Before First Use of Kettle: 

Remove all labels. Wash kettle in hot, soapy water, but do not use abrasive cleaners (such as steel wool or scrubbing pads). Rinse and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. 

Stovetop Use of Kettle:

The kettle is compatible with electric, gas ceramic and glass stovetops. High heat is recommended for boiling only. Select the burner size that best fits the base of kettle — flames should not come up around the sides of the kettle.

Kitchen Safety:

Never leave kettle unattended on a high heat or allow it to boil dry. Extended heating without liquid may cause permanent damage to your kettle.

Kettle Care: 

• For best results, always keep your kettle clean. Allow kettle to cool prior to washing. Submerging a hot kettle in cold water can cause warping. Do not use abrasive cleansers during cleaning. 
• For best results, hand wash with non-abrasive cleansers and liquid dishwashing soap. Death Wish stovetop kettle is 100% dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended to maintain its finish.
